The U.S. specific envoy for Haiti, Ambassador Daniel Foote, has resigned his submit in protest over the Biden administration’s selection to conduct large-scale deportations in response to a surge of Haitian migrants.
In a letter dated Wednesday, two months from the date of his appointment, Mr. Foote wrote: “I will not be related with the United States’ inhumane, counterproductive selection to deport countless numbers of Haitian refugees and unlawful immigrants to Haiti,” calling attention to rampant gang violence in the place.
