The NDP was planned with a fifteen-calendar year horizon with rollout in two phases. The very first, NDP-I, released in March 2012, aimed at ensuring sustained development in milk creation by increasing animal productivity, for meeting the projected demand from customers of 200-210 million tonnes (mt) of milk by 2021-22. Balanced feed

Yet another essential component of NDP-I was to make sure balanced feed for dairy animals as a result of a Ration Balancing Programme (RBP) to show the rewards of feeding a balanced ration. About 29 lakh animals in 33,374 villages were lined beneath the RBP. It led to an about twelve for every cent reduction in feed value and an improve in farmers’ incomes. The report lauds the achievement of the physical and economic targets of NDP-I. The Globe Bank has provided the greatest end result rating to NDP-I in its report.

NDP Phase II will be a reasonable extension to tackle more volumes of milk coming to the organised sector.

Progress in our milk creation at above 6 for every cent for every annum above the very last 5 yrs can mainly be attributed to NDP-I. This development momentum is most likely to continue on in the foreseeable foreseeable future due to the implementation of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission for breeding pursuits, DIDF and AHIDF.

Short term aberration

The recent condition of surplus milk in some States, primary to reduced producer costs and accumulation of milk powder stocks, is at most effective a momentary aberration owing to market disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dairy improvement has not been uniform throughout the state. The eastern, north-eastern States and aspirational districts in unique have lagged guiding. In purchase to make sure inclusive development in milk creation and procurement, it would be necessary to endorse the development of option producer owned institutions in these parts wherever cooperatives are absent or weak. This will genuinely make our state self-reliant and self-sufficient in milk.
