The seventh stage of West Bengal assembly polls was held peacefully with an approximated voter turnout of 75.06 for every cent until 5 pm on Monday, in accordance to the Election Commission.
Voting commenced at seven am on Monday amid limited security and concluded at six pm.
Voting was held in eleven,376 polling stations unfold across 34 assembly constituencies in 5 districts.
Amongst the 34 constituencies that went to polls in Stage-VII, 6 are in Dakshin Dinajpur, 6 in Malda, 9 in Murshidabad, 9 in Paschim Bardhaman and four in Kolkata.
Amongst the 5 districts, Murshidabad recorded the highest voter turnout of eighty.37 for every cent until 5 pm. The most affordable voter turnout was observed in Kolkata South with 60.03 for every cent.
Constituency-clever, Raninagar in the Murshidabad district recorded the highest voter turnout of eighty four.35 for every cent followed by Bhagabangola at 83.50 for every cent. Rashbehari constituency in Kolkata witnessed the most affordable voter turnout at fifty five.93 for every cent.
As a lot of as 268 candidates, including 37 women of all ages, were being in the fray in this stage of the assembly elections.
In Stage-VII, there were being 81,88,907 voters, including 39,88,239 women of all ages and 221 of the 3rd gender. Briefing the mediapersons, Main Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, Aariz Aftab said, “The Commission expresses gratitude to all stakeholders specifically the voters for their enthusiastic and fearless participation in the election approach right now. Commission particularly many thanks PwD electors, senior citizens, company voters for using portion in elections honoring COVID protocol norms. For the protection of the voters and the election officials, it was ensured that the polling stations were being sanitized one working day prior to poll and the facility of thermal scanning, hand sanitisers, confront masks were being also produced readily available at the polling stations. Ruling TMC and BJP contested on all 34 seats. Congress, the Still left functions and the Indian Secular Entrance (ISF) have forged an alliance and are contesting less than the banner of Sanyukta Morcha. Out of the 34 seats in this round, Congress received 18 in its share, CPI(M) received twelve, RSP three, AIFB received one and ISF received four seats. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also attempted its luck and fielded 25 candidates.
Polling for the eighth and remaining stage will be held on April 29 even though the counting of votes will just take spot on May perhaps two.
